No Man’s Sky has its first resource-doubling exploit

You know your game is popular when resource and item-duplication exploits start appearing.

No Man’s Sky is a game about exploring space and discovering alien species, and quiet a bit of material farming.

Naturally, some smart players have figured out a way to double their stock, similar to how many other games have seen item duplication glitches. Because No Man’s Sky includes many rare items, this should help players not concerned with keeping it clean get more of them easily.

Atlas Passes and Atlas Stones in particular are very rare. These one-use items require resources to craft, and when crafted, get you access to certain locked doors and chests.

Spoilers below.

All you need to do is fill up your ship’s inventory with whatever you want to duplicate, and create two save files. Basically, you need to save the game twice so you don’t mess with any other save files.

Because No Man’s Sky allows you to reclaim your lost stash after respawning, all you need to do is get yourself killed by attacking wildlife etc., reload the earlier of the two saves and follow the waypoint to your corpse.

That way, you will have the items in your ship inventory, as well as the ones you find on the corpse, effectively doubling your stash.

originally at: http://feeds.gawker.com/~r/kotaku/full/~3/Xy8lFQW2jcw/the-birth-of-tv-anime-in-japan-1785136025

We take it for granted. Each season, anime studios churn out new episodes on a regular basis. But at one time, a weekly TV anime was seen as an impossibility in Japan. Osamu Tezuka changed that forever.

Destiny Rise of Iron to bring new Iron Engrams, camera filters, more

originally at: http://www.vg247.com/2016/08/11/destiny-rise-of-iron-to-bring-new-iron-engrams-camera-filters-more/

Destiny expansion Rise of Iron will add a few more bits of content that aren’t just new strikes and missions.

The upcoming Destiny add-on, Rise of Iron, has been in conversations quite a bit recently thanks to being this month’s Game Informer cover game.

In another update to the cover article, the magazine revealed that Lord Saladin will be selling a new type of Engram called Iron Engrams. These can drop Year 1 & 2 armour pieces.

Radiant Treasure chests have also been detailed. These are Rise of Iron’s version of Sterling Treasures, and just like their Sterling counterparts, you can only get a limited number per week. These include cosmetic items and can be purchased from the Eververse Trading Company, too.

Vault space will also not see any upgrades, unfortunately.

In the video above, Alex rounds up all the information gleaned for the Game Informer article, including new image filter options available to those who like capturing footage, Rise of Iron’s version of Calcified Fragments, and more.

Former Amazon Fire Phone Exclusive 'Saber's Edge' Launches Worldwide

originally at: http://toucharcade.com/2016/08/10/former-amazon-fire-phone-exclusive-sabers-edge-launches-worldwide/

Following the reveal of the Amazon Fire Phone was a few exclusive games that looked surprisingly awesome. Saber’s Edge [Free] was one of those games, which seemed to combine puzzle mechanics, RPG elements, and… Pirates. On paper, it sounded amazing, and as someone who loves puzzle RPGs, it got me pretty close to picking up a Fire Phone just to try it out. Well, the Amazon Fire Phone completely bombed, which eventually resulted in these exclusive games being released on other platforms. It’s been soft launched for a while, but as of this morning Saber’s Edge is now available worldwide.

I played the game quite a bit during its lengthy soft launch, and the core gameplay is really cool. Unfortunately, it greatly suffers from … free to play mobile game released in 2016 syndrome, for lack of a better way to put it. What I mean by that is the puzzle battle mechanic is totally awesome and lives up to what I was excited for when I first heard about the game.

The problem is, you can’t just release a game with a strong puzzle mechanic, charge ten bucks for it, and live happily ever after. Instead, you take that mechanic, and drench it with all sorts of different free to play shenanigans, unlocks, currencies, collectables, upgrades, and everything else that every free to play game seems to have. It makes me happy we got Dungeon Raid [$0.99] when we did, as this makes me wonder if even Dungeon Raid if released in 2016 would be packed with all this junk.

I don’t mean to sound too negative, as there’s a cool game to be found somewhere inside of Saber’s Edge, provided you’re willing to deal with the rest of the stuff which had oddly become “normal” recently.

The End is Nigh in the New "Pakocalypse" Update for 'Pako – Car Chase Simulator'

originally at: http://toucharcade.com/2016/08/10/pako-pakocalypse-update/

It’s pretty crazy to think that Pako – Car Chase Simulator [$0.99 / Free] from Tree Men Games has been around for nearly two years, and even crazier to think about the amount of content that’s been added via updates in the time since its launch. It’s evolved from a pretty simplistic vehicular arena survival game to one that features tons of different levels to play, multiple vehicles, additional game modes, and even a slick 3rd-person camera option. Today the latest Pako update has launched and once again it transforms the game significantly. The “Pakocalypse” update adds a new level called Aftermath along with 3 brand new vehicles all of which look like they came straight out of Mad Max. Of course, it’s not just an aesthetic apocalyptic theme, as while you’re playing Aftermath there are zombies roaming the land, tanks threatening you from all around, and even death and destruction raining down from the sky.

Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel

It doesn’t end there, though, as you can take some of this Pakocalypse with you into the rest of the game too. All previous Pako levels now include an option to enable Pakocalypse mode which will bring the aforementioned zombies, tanks, and raining death into the original levels you know and love, putting a new spin on the gameplay. Since the deck will be stacked against you, when Pakocalypse mode is enabled your vehicle will now include a new offensive move to help you in dispatching the threats. For a dollar, there really is no better bang for your buck than Pako – Car Chase Simulator, so be sure to take it for a spin if you haven’t already and I’ll be looking forward to how the game continues to evolve during the next two years of its life.
